Yesterday, my father and step mother came by for breakfast. Thanks to a nudge toward something new by my sister-in-law, we went to Lucile’s, a Creole cafe. Talk about a hearty, delicious, and filling experience! It took almost 20 minutes to decide what to order, everything on the menu sounded perfect. We even contemplated ordering everything on the breakfast menu, but came to the conclusion that that would turn out to be a lot of food for three and a half people, of course my cupkeiki was in tow.
To start, the waitress convinced us to try the Beignets. Talk about, powdered sugar on top of fried food goodness!!
Here is a mouth watering snap of these delicious, sweet-dough fritters from their website!
From there, with stomachs already full, we moved on to our breakfast plates. I ordered Hank’s Eggs, a delicious combination of potatoes, eggs, peppers, tomatoes and cheese, served with avocado on top and biscuit on the side. Even my little one enjoyed picking away at it. My dad ordered the omelet, and a side of biscuits and gravy. The sausage gravy was fantastic and we all nibbled at it attempting to figure out what ingredients were involved that made it so delicious. My step mom ordered the Eggs Jennifer. Similar to Eggs Benedict, but with the added touch of spinach, tomato and avocado. Everything was a hit, and we walked away with praises and full bellies. And, while I can’t vouch for the other two; I was so full from breakfast that couldn’t eat anything until dinner. I’m now looking forward to trying their entrees and desserts because a breakfast that good, has to followed up with dinner and something sweet!
